Career

1886 - meets Paul Sérusier at Académie Julian

1888 - forms the Nabis with Pierre Bonnard, Paul Ranson and Henri-Gabriel Ibels

1890 - first article, "Definition of Neo-Traditionalism" published in Art et critique

1890s - exhibits regularly with Neo-Impressionists and Symbolists; illustrates Claude Debussy's musical piece The Blessed Damozel and Andre Gide's story Urien's Voyage

1897 - commissioned to provide decorative paintings for Paris residence of Baron Denys Cochin

1900s - exhibits regularly at Salon de la Société Nationale and at the Salon des Indépendants

1919 - establishes the Studios of Sacred Art with George-Olivier Desvallières
